BIO
Into the captivating universe of an eclectic artist.
Born in Paris, Éric Pagès, also known as Rick Pages, embodies the very spirit of a versatile artist, navigating the vast domain of visual arts with boundless energy. His passion for creation has led him to explore a variety of themes and artistic techniques.
Rick Pages is an artist from the PACA region (Provence, Alpes, Côte d'Azur), residing in the south of France, specifically in Var.
From a young age, Éric immersed himself in the world of drawing by attending classes at Monsieur Denis Torcolti's workshop in Draguignan. This early immersion in the visual arts shaped his trajectory, leading him to deepen his knowledge of drawing and art history at Dumont d'Urville High School in Toulon, where he obtained a A3-level diploma. His abilities quickly attracted attention, and he was selected for the general competition in Plastic Arts, marking the beginning of a promising artistic journey.
Over the years, Éric continued his studies at the University of Aix-en-Provence until completing his master's degree, where his passion for art took on a new dimension. It was there that his interest in the theme of crowds was born, a subject that would become a constant in his artistic work. His early exhibitions, including the notable one at the Château de Cagnes-sur-Mer in 1991, testify to his ability to capture the very essence of life in motion through his canvases.
But Éric didn't stop at exploring the visual arts. Alongside his career as an artist, he fully invested himself in other artistic domains, including music as a renowned drummer in various bands, and graphic design. These diverse experiences enriched his artistic practice, offering him a unique and multidimensional perspective on art.
Obtaining a CAPES in Plastic Arts marked a turning point in Éric's life, pushing him to reconnect with his own artistic practice more intensely. His obsessive theme of the crowd resurfaced in 2003, giving rise to a rich and complex body of plastic production. Through his works, Éric explores the various facets of the human condition, drawing inspiration from both traditional figurative art and contemporary art and popular culture.
In 2006, Éric began a new series entitled "Wounded Superheroes", where he revisits the myth of superheroes with a personal and introspective perspective. These canvases, infused with nostalgia for the Marvel and DC COMICS era of the late 70s to mid-80s, testify to his mastery of mixed techniques and his innovative approach to the subject.
From 2008 to 2015, Éric explored new artistic horizons while continuing to enrich his journey. In 2008, he embarked on a series of paintings entitled "Marines and Landscapes-Visions", where he experimented with light and tonalities to create dreamlike and evocative compositions. At the same time, he obtained an additional certification in cinema and taught visual arts classes, while also joining the collective of visual artists "l'Art du Temps" for noteworthy exhibitions from 2013 to 2015.
Today, Éric Pagès is more determined than ever to share his artistic universe with the world. His overflowing creativity and commitment to various artistic and associative projects testify to his unwavering passion for art in all its forms. Through his canvases, videos, and music, he invites the viewer to dive into a world where color, movement, and emotion converge to create an unforgettable artistic experience.
"Abstract art"
Éric Pagès, also known as "Rick Pages," a complete and visionary artist, has recently crossed a new frontier in the art world. Active for decades in the field of visual arts in the PACA region, Éric has recently unveiled a new series that will mark his artistic journey.
After years of exploration in various artistic mediums, Éric finally decides to delve into the digital era at the end of 2023. Passionate about computer graphics for over 25 years, he pushes the boundaries of his creativity by turning to entirely digital art. With a solid command of digital tools such as Procreate on iPad and subtle integration of artificial intelligence in blend mode essentially, he creates an innovative series titled "Abstract Art".
Unveiled at the beginning of 2024, this captivating series is a testament to the artist's constant evolution and commitment to innovation. Inspired by his old paintings, photos, and drawings, Éric revives his artistic universe in a completely new way. His digital creations, with their vibrant colors and abstract shapes, transport the viewer into a fascinating world where reality blends with imagination.
The aesthetic of the "Abstract Art" series evokes certain artistic movements of the 1950s and 1970s, but reinterpreted with the modern touch of the 21st century. Influences from the new realists and the BMPT group are felt, but Éric merges them with his own artistic language to create something truly unique and contemporary.
This new digital exhibition marks a significant milestone in Éric Pagès' career. His work, now available in high definition on canvas, opens up new perspectives for him. Through this "in progress" series, I invite you to discover a world where technology and art come together to create an immersive and inspiring visual experience.
Éric Pagès continues to write his story in the world of art by offering a fresh perspective on contemporary art. His series "Abstract Art" is an invitation to explore the endless possibilities of digital art in today's world.
